Our safe, innovative youth transportation solution is used by over 300 school districts, charter schools, government agencies and busy families to get kids where they need to go. With nearly 500,000 yellow buses on the road every day and 3.5 billion miles driven a year, student transportation is the largest mass transit system in the US. And while districts spend $25 billion annually on transportation, only 30% of kids get to school everyday on a school bus. Add to the equation a crippling bus driver shortage and increasing needs for individualized transportation solutions, and it is clear the current system is expensive, inefficient and ripe for disruption.We create personalized transportation solutions from one to many, and everything in between.

Who Are You? 

 

HopSkipDrive is looking for a Finance & Strategy Intern. You will report to our Finance & Strategy Manager, Tina Guo, and be working with the Finance & Strategy team. It’s a rare opportunity to gain exposure to a fun, creative and fast-paced work environment that is passionate about working to create opportunity for all through mobility.

  • Projects will be spread out across both (i) monthly financial reporting to better understand FP&A processes that are crucial to all businesses and (ii) strategic projects to learn about how Finance guides the company in its operations across various departments.
    Projects include preparing MBR slides, assisting in budget reviews and forecasting, building department-specific models (e.g., Activation spend forecasting), etc.
  • Over the course of the internship, you will learn how to be a critical thinker. Specific skills that you will learn and develop include financial analysis and reporting, financial modeling, and effective storytelling (via presentation decks).

 

Your Background 

 

  • Enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a related degree program
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and three financial statements (e.g., major line items in P&L, key accounts in balance sheet, etc.)
  • Some experience in Excel / Google Sheets and PowerPoint / Google Slides
  • Some experience with financial modeling
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • This role will be fully remote from a state where we do business AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, IL, KS, MD, WI, NC, NV, NJ, NY, OR, TX, SC, VA, and WA.

Position Summary

 

  • As a Finance & Strategy intern, you will gain hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis processes, strategic projects across various departments, and develop critical thinking skills through financial analysis, modeling, and effective storytelling via presentations.

     
  • Hours: 15-30hrs/week
  • Compensation: $17/hr
