LA-Tech.org Business Academy

This fall, LA-Tech.org will host our fourth LA Tech Business Academy, a hands-on, 160-hour career development course for up to 100 scholars from Los Angeles County. All scholars will receive compensation as part of their participation in the academy. Each scholar will participate in custom, creative work sessions, fireside chats and mentorship opportunities with seasoned operators from top tech companies in LA and beyond.

ACADEMY INFORMATION:

• Duration: 12 Weeks
• Commitment: 10-15 hours per week (will include solo and group work during business & after hours)
  • You will be required to attend each zoom Monday and Thursday evening session unless otherwise discussed with program staff. Sessions typically take place during the 3:30-6:30PM window, with the majority of sessions starting at 4PM. 
• Start Date: Thursday, August 29, 2024
• Location: Academy Sessions will be conducted virtually via Zoom with the exception of two mandatory in-person sessions
  • Academy In-Person Retreat (Mandatory) - 2:00pm - 5:00pm on, Tuesday, September 3rd at California Endowment (1000 Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012) 
  • Academy Graduation & Showcase (Mandatory) -TBD

PRE-RECORDED INTERVIEWS:

• Candidates will be required to submit a pre-recorded interview via the LA-Tech.org vidcruiter portal by Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 11:59PM PST

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATIONS:

• July 2024 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be between the ages of 18-24 living in the County of Los Angeles
• Must Provide Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or Qualifying Exemption (Religious/Medical)
• Applicants should:
• Demonstrate a strong desire to learn about career tracks in tech companies in the areas of marketing, sales, product management and entrepreneurship
• Be ready to make a move to pursue a career in the tech industry
• Be motivated, engaged, mature students who want to attend an intensive program that will be fast-paced, demanding but also a lot of fun
• Demonstrate a strong desire to network and build relationships with your peers
• Have genuine interest in developing your leadership, teamwork and communication skills 
• Exhibit enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn
• No prior business experience required

This program is funded by the county of Los Angeles, and specific guidelines have been established for participants to qualify for compensation. These guidelines are in adherence to the funding requirements.**
